Stories: Fiona Dowling
Musician: Eamon Sweeney

As they get reacquainted they compare their likes and dislikes and share stories about friendship, mistaken identity, mirrors and a hungry alligators.

The show takes some storytelling classics for this younger age group and weaves them into an engaging interactive narrative about the re-meeting of two friends.

The Tree's Heartbeat

Folktales about trees for 7+ with music from wooden instruments

Stories: Fiona Dowling
Percussions: Andrew Ilsley

A scientist recently discovered that trees make music, that within them is a frenetic and incessant drum roll, a pulse of live, a heart beat. Like us humans, trees stand upright, have roots and arms. Trees and men have a special connection, a complicity that this show would like to celebrate.

You will hear a selection of folktales about trees from a diversity of cultures. As a breath between stories, you will hear the trees speak for themselves, under the fingers of the percussionist.

The Tales of Charles Perrault

Little known versions of well known folktales for 7+ and teens with period music

Stories: Fiona Dowling
Musician: Eamon Sweeney

Selected stories from Charles Perrault, exploring the dark side of well-known tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard. The musician appears as a character of the storyteller's imagination – in period dress, with Venetian-style mask, - playing appropriate music on facsimile historical instruments (guitar, lute), the song - 'Frere Jacques' from that period is also included.

The Three Colours of Love

Fiona Dowling: Stories, Mbira
Bernard Burns: Saxophone

Come and hear musical and mystical stories of romance, heart-to-hearts and skipping beats. Listen between the lines for echoes of ancient wisdom from the Moroccan souk and the Persian bazaar. Once upon a Boom Boom there was the human heart, still hungry today for tales of its own working.

Mesdames et Messieurs, in this intimate, poetic and playful show you will learn how to make women grow plump, how to find a mate the Spanish way, the benefits of hot dogs, the hidden wisdom of love triangles, the danger of looking into your lover’s eyes, the three colours of love and table manners among the winged folk. Trust Fiona Dowling’s warm telling and irresistible French accent and Bernard Burns’ sensual saxophone playing to serenade you into the softest je-ne-sais-quoi-est places of your heart.

Stories of Willy and Lilly

Erotic songs and stories from Ireland and beyond

Stories: Fiona Dowling
Songs: Andrew Ilsley

Irish and World folklore have a huge repertoire of erotic stories and songs. We would like to offer our audience a selection from this very special corpus.

Did you know that the first penises grew on trees? Did you hear of the girl who couldn't stand talk of bumfuckery? We will sing to you about a man who mowed a small lawn, and one who told his dream to a girl under a tree. We will tell and sing about many more men and women and about what they do when they wear the simplest of costumes.

Compared to the ways sexuality is commonly portrayed in contemporary media, the treasures of imagination and ingenuity contained in those folksongs and folktales are refreshing and surprising. We hope you will delight in rediscovering the great life force that dwells below the bellybutton.
